Greetings and blessings from El Salvador!

As we continue to try and be faithful to the work He has called us to do, He continues to open doors and move mountains for us to reach even more here in El Salvador. I will highlight what is happening. And I am constantly posting updates and photos on Facebook. If we are not friends, ask me!

Smile

Crisis Center:  We now have our dentist seeing patients every Thursday.  Praise the Lord for this blessing!!!  We have been waiting almost a year for this to happen and finally it has.  She is still lacking a few intrusments, but I know in time we will have those as well.  But she is booked!!!!!  There are so many needs I think she will have patients forever.  We are so thankful to be able to meet this physical need.  And afterwards, we always invite them to one of our 5 weekly Bible studies, or for them to return for counseling.  We are meeting both the physicl and spiritual.  Our Center continues to amaze me in the ways it blesses people.  Woman in need are now able to receive basic food baskets to help them with their budget.  Just another way to bless them and we always pray with them.  So Thank You, Lord, for our Crisis Center!!!

Cabanas:  One of my wishes is that the area of Cabanas was closer to where I live.  It is such a blessing to be able to go there every few weeks to bless the people there.  So many of the elderly there that we have been ministering to can now write their complete name and they know the letters of the alphabet.  And we always have a Bible study with them.  They are just so precious.  They know nothing of the Bible stories and are always fascinated with David and Goliath, Jonah and the whale and other stories.  They really are like little children and we are leading them and building their faith.  We are still taking reading glasses to those who need them and the Eco Stoves are a continued source of blessing for all the ladies in Cabanas.  The word is getting around about a stove that uses much less wood and therefore is esier for them.  Abigial continues to pay $25 and they pay $20 to invest in their stove.  And they love it!!!

We are also negociating on land for the building project there.  Please pray for this!!!  We are so ready to extend our hand in this way in Cabanas with a building to use as a church and also a teaching center and we also want to dig a well for them to have fresh clean drinking water.  So we really need the Lord to move another mountain for us.

HIV + Kids Connection Breakfast:  We have totally gone beyond any of my expectations with this ministry.  We are averaging almost 90 kids every Monday and every Wednesday.  One Monday, we served 107!!!!  And to see the smiles on their faces and to receive their hugs....what a blessing!!!  And many of the moms are just in awe that someone would give them a free breakfast.  So we ARE making  difference!!!!

Prison Ministry:  I truly never expected to go into a prison here in El Salvador.  That was never even on my radar in any form.  But when the Lord opens a door, you go!  And I will continue to go.  I was able to take with me the peditrician from our Crisis Center and another lady.  For those who know me well, you know I am a very strong person and can handle a lot of things.  But after our first visit to the Woman's Prison, I had to drive around for about 3 hours, just crying and processing.  Not because of the women being in the prison.  If you commit a crime, you do the time.  I have no problem with that.  But to see children living in the same cells, under the same conditions (bad food and water, cockroaches, no beds, just a mattress on the floor)  it does something to you.  Children were never meant to live in prison, but there are many living that way here.  They are all sick...with skin rashes, colds, parasite infections, lung infections....you name it, we saw it.  And so many of them were not very responsive.  Think about it...they were conceived in prison, born in prison, and are living in prison.  They do not have toys, books, crayons..nothing that a child needs to develop mental skills.  The 4 and 5 year old children cannot read or write.  They are allowed a few hours every week in an area where they can run, but the doctor said so many of their muscles are weak that they have no strength nor desire to run and play.

So we continue to go and take medicines.  I am asking the Government for permission to take in books and toys.  Please pray for favor with my request.  Right now, the Government is open to us going in and in fact, have even asked us to go into another prison.  So the door is open to go!!!  And we always take HIM with us.  We ask the moms if we can pray with them and the children and several have made decisions that will change their lives for eternity.  We have ministered to gang members as we see the tatoos all over the moms' backs and faces.  So we continue to go!  But I do ask for your prayers for this ministry.  It takes everything I have to go and do this.  I LOVE IT but it is very hard.  But with His strength, we go.

So as you can see, we are very blessed to be so busy!!!  THANK YOU for all of your prayers and support.  As He continues to open the doors and as we continue to walk through them,  He continues to provide whatever we need.  Thank you for responding when He has touched your heart to pray for us or to support us.  I know your prayers are opening all of these amazing doors!!!  I continue to pray for you and all of your needs.  I want you to be blessed beyond measure!!!!!  So God bless you!!!!  Janis
